Eastleigh MP, Mims Davies, has welcomed that teachers, police, the armed forces and NHS workers are set to receive their biggest pay rise in almost 10 years.
The increases are funded from departmental budgets and are as a result of the Government’s balanced approach to the economy meaning that they won’t place a burden of debt onto future generations. The UK already spends around £50bn a year on debt interest, more than is spent on the police and armed forces combined.
Commenting, Eastleigh MP Mims Davies said:
“I have had the huge pleasure of meeting with our teachers and police, members of the armed forces and NHS workers and witnessed first-hand the amazing services that they provide to our community. It is REALLY important that these people feel supported, including financially.
“I am therefore really pleased to see this announcement, which is only possible thanks to the strong and growing economy that the Conservatives have built while in Government, and it is right that good news for our economy also means good news for our hard working public sector workers!”
