As Breast Cancer Awareness Month moves in to its final week, Eastleigh MP, Mims Davies, has thanked the Botley community for turning out to support her ‘Cake and Cuppa’ morning last Friday, raising over £300 to support the work of the Breast Cancer Haven, Wessex, which serves people across Southampton and Portsmouth.
Businesses in Botley also got fully behind the event, with shops in the square ‘turning pink’ for the week leading up to the charity morning and many donating fabulous raffle prizes to the event.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month – which takes place between the 1st October – 31st October - aims to get as many people as possible involved in raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research, just like fundraiser hosted by local MP Mims Davies at the Botley Centre last Friday.
Commenting the Eastleigh MP Mims Davies said:
“The fact that over £300 was raised in just a couple of hours demonstrates how important the Breast Cancer Haven is to our local community, with some of those popping in for cake and a cuppa with their families having themselves beaten breast cancer and received support from the Haven.
“Having visited the centre myself, following in the steps of Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth Hurley, I too have seen first-hand what an amazing service they offer to local people in our area, I would encourage anyone that is undergoing breast cancer treatment to visit the Breast Cancer Haven in Titchfield, a haven of peace and tranquillity.”
