Local MP Mims Davies has celebrated the recent Spring Statement, and all the good news it has brought for Eastleigh constituents.
Mims said,
‘More than 55,000 people from our area have benefitted from increases in the personal tax allowance over the last year – and this is only set to rise from April. A typical tax-payer is now paying £1,075 less income tax than in 2010-11.
‘I am also absolutely thrilled that first time buyers in our area are now saving an average of £2,980 of stamp duty, after the Chancellor took on my suggestion in the Autumn 2017 Budget.
‘Nationally Eastleigh residents will be reassured to know that the economy is continuing to grow, is continuing to create jobs and continues to beat expectations.
‘Having had lots of letters and emails about plastic waste, it’s particularly welcome news that the Government is planning to tackle disposable plastics through a tax system that rewards the creation of new, greener products and services.
‘All this, plus key public investment in our schools, hospitals, and infrastructure will be at its highest sustained level in 40 years – absolutely welcome news for local residents.’
