The Managing Director of South Western Railway, Andy Mellors, has promised local rail users across the Eastleigh area that services will improve under the new franchise, during a meeting organised by the Member of Parliament for Eastleigh, Mims Davies.
Speaking afterwards, regular commuter and Hedge End resident, Gareth Smith said:
“Yesterday evening’s Rail Forum Meeting was really useful. The Managing Director of South Western Railway (SWR), Andy Mellors, was really on top of his brief, and it was great to see that SWR are already looking to address the majority of the concerns raised on the evening.
“As a regular commuter, I was particularly pleased to hear that before SWR even took over the franchise, they were actively working with Network Rail on contingency plans and service recovery for when things go wrong, which is one of the historic issues on the network.
“I’d also like to thank Mims for organising the meeting, and I hope that it will be the first of many.”
Commenting, Eastleigh MP, Mims Davies said:
“I’d like to thank all of those that came along yesterday evening. I was really pleased at the end of the evening to hear those that attended saying how useful they found the meeting. In that vein I’d also like to thank Andy for having the answers to people’s questions and concerns, and for providing a really positive forward view to what SWR has planned for our area.
“I’d also like to thank Eastleigh College who so kindly allowed us to use the college as a venue for the meeting and made sure that everybody was well looked after!”
Managing Director of South Western Railway, Andy Mellors, said:
“I want to thank Mims for hosting the forum, and the customers who took part for sharing their experience and insights in such a positive, constructive way. We are working hard to deliver a better railway and it is great that our customers want to help us do that.”
