Mims Davies, MP for Eastleigh has celebrated World Book Day 2018 with colleagues in Westminster, including fellow Hampshire MP & Health Minister Caroline Dineage, – and now urges constituents to join her in making the most of this vital event.
Mims said,
‘I hope all my constituents will #shareastory with me this year – I welcome book recommendations, suggestions on how to get Eastleigh reading, as well as photos of everyone in their outfits! Send me an email, a Facebook comment or a tweet!’
‘This celebration is all about the power stories can have in changing the world, and how we should #shareastory with friends and family. It’s also a great opportunity to put on a costume and get engaged with our favourite fictional realms.’
‘It’s been 100 years since women were started to be given the vote here in Parliament – so my colleagues and I have particularly loved flicking through Kate Pankhurst’s new illustrated book “Women Who Changed the World”. A descendent of suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst, Kate has done so well make such an inspirational book for little girls AND boys AND grownups!’
‘I’m also a huge fan of Sheryl Sandberg’s book “Lean In” – a book I encouraged all my team to read and would definitely recommend to slightly older constituents who are looking for a motivational non-fiction page turner!’
Mims was also joined by Seema Kennedy MP and Jo Churchill MP at the event.
