As part of our long-term economic plan to secure a better future for Britain, the next Conservative government will triple the number of Start-Up loans to at least 75,000 by the end of the decade. That will mean that on current trends the scheme will have created at least 100,000 jobs across the UK by 2020, meaning thousands more people with the security of a regular pay-packet.
The Start-Up Loans scheme provides loans and mentoring support to people who want to start their own businesses. Across the country, 25,000 Start-Up Loans have already been awarded, worth a total of nearly £130 million and generating more than 32,000 new jobs.
As a part of our long-term economic plan, we will give at least 50,000 thousand more people the opportunity to follow their dream of running a business, creating tens of thousands of new jobs in the process, and providing more people the security of a regular pay packet and a better future.
Eastleigh Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for the Conservatives Mims Davies commented, “We are backing the small businesses which bring jobs to our local communities, and our long-term plan is aiming to make Britain the best place in the world to start and grow a business. Today’s figures show that Start-Up Loans are helping us to do exactly that - here in Eastleigh, a brilliant £136,061 has been lent to 18 innovative people who had the ideas and drive and now the funds to go out there make a difference and help grow our local ecomony.”
