Mims Davies, MP for Eastleigh constituency, has today welcomed the news that the large and most contentious Land West of Hamble Lane planning application for 225 houses has been refused on appeal to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP.
Mims Davies MP who is resident in Hamble said “The Hamble area already suffers from terrible traffic issues and this application would have only made that worse which is why, together with residents, I campaigned to have it thrown out as an application and today common sense has prevailed regarding protecting the green gap."
“It was disappointing to see that once again the lack of a Local Plan was commented on which puts further green spaces at risk across my constituency and I hope this clear victory for my residents will show Eastleigh Borough Council that hostile planning applications will be met with strong resistance from me and my fellow local residents.”
This follows from Hamble Conservative Cllr Elizabeth Lear being the only Councillor to vote against a hostile planning application for 89 new houses in Netley. The application was passed by 5 Liberal Democrat councillors which saw residents walk out of the Local Area Committee meeting in disgust.
