The Member of Parliament for Mid Sussex and former Minister for Loneliness, Mims Davies, is encouraging constituents to take part in the ‘Weekend Wave’ to get outside and socialise - whilst socially distanced - with their neighbours at 6pm on Saturday as part of Loneliness awareness week.
Loneliness awareness week runs from the 15th-19th June and this year the Let’s Talk Loneliness campaign has joined together with Marmalade Trust and the Jo Cox Foundation, plus numerous other charities and private sector organisations to organise online events and offer tips on how you can reach out and promote connection this Loneliness Awareness Week and beyond.
Commenting, the Member of Parliament for Mid Sussex, Mims Davies said:
“As the former Minister for Loneliness I know just how important social connections are and during the current times it is incredibly important we reach out to those who may be shielding or isolating and may not have heard from anyone.
“The weekend wave is a great opportunity to get outside and socialise with neighbours. I really encourage everyone to get involved, whilst maintaining social distancing. As we start to move back towards normality it is important we keep those who cannot socialise in our thoughts and keep reaching out to them.”
Ends.
