The UK Commission on Covid Commemoration (https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/uk-commission-on-covid-commemoration) has been established to secure a broad census from across the whole of the United Kingdom on how the Covid-19 Pandemic is marked.
The Rt Hon Baroness Morgan of Cotes, as Chair of the UK Commission on Covid Commemoration, is looking to gather opinions on how the Covid-19 Pandemic, a distinctive period in our history is commemorated at both a national and community level.
Views are sought from across the United Kingdom to obtain a broad range of views from individuals and communities affected by Covid-19, to listen to suggestions as to how we commemorate those who have died, as well as gathering views on how the pandemic should be marked more generally. This will be key to generating a set of proposals that will be put to the Government. The Commission will report on its recommendations to the Prime Minister by the end of March 2023.
To help facilitate this a number of regional meetings have been organised across the UK. Which are below. An online consultation will also be launched in the near future and details of this will be circulated once known.
The Commission is aware that existing Covid commemorations are in place and would like to understand what is already planned. If you have an planned event in pace or are planning one, the Commission would be grateful if you could use let them know what has been arranged by completing the one page survey on the link below: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/UKCovidCommemorationActivity/
The table below comprises details of all planned meetings. Please note that each meeting will include a first session dedicated to those who have lost loved ones followed by a second session open to all stakeholders. As such, the table includes two eventbrite links for each regional meeting. Please could you ensure that you register your attendance using the correct link.
