Eastleigh MP Mims Davies, following requests from constituents based in Eastleigh and Hedge End, has met with pharmacists and pharmaceutical representatives to discuss local pharmacies and the care they provide to Eastleigh’s communities.
Joined by representatives from local pharmacies as well as the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Mims discussed the importance of accessible points of care and hopes to remind constituents to make full use of the advice and expertise on offer.
Mims said:
“I visit a different local pharmacy in our area every year to receive my flu jab – and I also got to know my local pharmacist as I was caring for my two elderly parents with various ailments.
“Pharmacists have such a wealth of clinical knowledge, and they are an excellent point of contact for my constituents as they both oversee care and prescription.
“They’re really useful especially if you have young kids, and they have private rooms if you want a chat about something that’s bothering you as a first port of call ahead of seeing your GP.
“Often they are a personable health care provider, and are particularly invaluable to the 16 million people in England with long term health problems who require ongoing treatment that is friendly and convenient – all the while reducing the strain on our NHS.”
