The Member of Parliament for Eastleigh, Mims Davies, has said that we should always choose respect over bullying as ‘Anti-Bullying Week’ draws to a close today. Organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, the scheme aims to support schools and other settings to help children and young people, school staff, parents and other professionals who work with children to understand the definition of respect and that bullying is a behaviour choice.
Commenting Eastleigh MP Mims Davies said:
“Too many of us have faced bullying of some description, and like so many others, I am taking a stand as Anti-Bullying Week draws to a close today and saying that we should ALWAYS choose respect!
“The Anti-Bullying Alliance have done an amazing job yet again this year, highlighting just how important it is that we respect each other, both face to face but also online, and that there is a person behind every screen.
“This year we have seen ‘Odd Socks Day’ take place on Monday, which I was really pleased to see the whole of the Education Ministerial Team supporting. Meanwhile, yesterday we saw our first ‘Stop, Speak, Support’ day to highlight why we must give more thought when we make comments online.
“While Anti-Bullying Week is drawing to a close, the important message must continue, and I call on all of us to always ensure that we choose respect.”
