A formal public consultation has been launched today by Rampion 2 Offshore Wind Farms seeking feedback from local communities on their latest proposals. Rampion 2 is a proposed renewable electricity generation project which has the potential to help meet the UK’s climate change mitigation goals and Government targets for offshore wind generation (for more information and my thoughts on climate change visit G7 Reaction: Landmark commitments made on climate and environment)
This week’s launch follows on from the public consultation held in January, where I know many constituents gave their views on the project, and which I have been told were extremely valuable. I would therefore encourage those interested to join one of Rampion 2’s virtual public forums where a live presentation and the opportunity to answer questions will take place.
Ahead of the UK hosting #COP26 in November, I believe this latest consultation is an opportune time for constituents to provide their input, so Mid Sussex has the chance to contribute towards proposals to generate clean, green electricity for our area and beyond. I am excited this project has the potential to generate clean, green electricity for the equivalent of over 1 million homes and offset around 1.8 million tonnes of CO2 every year.
