Since our withdrawal from the European Union, we have had on of the most successful vaccine roll-outs anywhere in the world, agreed new free trade deals and cut back on red tape while strengthening standards. This includes our vital Environment Act, which will improve air and water quality, tackle waste, increase recycling, halt the decline of species, and improve our natural environment.
Now, we are taking another major step through a new Brexit Freedom Bill, which will end the special status of EU law and make it easier to change or remove outdated EU regulations, cutting £1 billion of EU red tape for UK businesses. This will accompany a major cross-government drive to replace, repeal and reform outdated EU law, which was kept on the statute book after Brexit as a bridging measure.
Officials across government are currently reviewing all EU retained laws to determine if they are beneficial to the UK.
I would also encourage constituents to look over the following document, which was released today, and sets out how we are taking advantage of leaving the EU, and can be accessed here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-benefits-of-brexit
These reforms will bring, major positive changes across a broad range of areas, including:
- Data and Artificial Intelligence
- Infrastructure and Levelling Up
- Climate, the Environment and Agriculture
- Business and Industry
- Global Britain
As we move forward, I'll be keeping constituents updated on this major, new Bill as it progresses through Parliament,
