After further engagement with GTR, I can advise that from Sunday 21st May a new timetable will see positive changes to services to and from East Grinstead.
In the morning, an additional service will depart East Grinstead at 10:36, extending the half-hourly AM frequency later into the morning. This train will also be in passenger service towards East Grinstead, providing a new 09:20 departure from London Victoria towards East Grinstead. Inclusive of these changes, Southern services are now half-hourly on weekdays between 05:36-10:36 and 15:06-21:06 towards London, and away from London 05:20-09:50, 14:20-19:50 and 21:50 to last train at 23:22.
In the evening, an additional service will depart London Victoria at 22:50. This additional service will mean there is now a half-hourly late-night service between 21:50 and the last train at 23:22.
GTR have explained they have needed to make changes to existing services, given the shift in passenger demand. They have chosen to reduce the frequency on Sundays to hourly before 10:00 and after 20:00. There is no change to first or last trains and outside of these hours, so between 10:00 and 20:00, the Sunday service will remain half-hourly. In effect, GTR have taken a set of services out on Sundays, when trains are quieter and reallocated the resources to the Monday-Friday service.
This will mean changes for some commuters, but I am hopeful that reallocating resources to the weekday service will result in more regular and reliable services for those who rely on them to get into work.
I will continue to fully represent constituents’ needs and concerns with GTR and appreciate receiving details of individual’s experiences to continue to take up with GTR.
