Yesterday Mims Davies MP attended the STEM for Britain competition in Parliament, hosted by the Parliamentary and Scientific Committee as part of British Science Week.
STEM for Britain is a major scientific poster competition and exhibition which aims to give Parliamentarians an insight into the outstanding research work being undertaken in UK universities by early-career researchers.
Prizes are awarded for the posters presented in each discipline which best communicate high level science, engineering or mathematics.
Mims met Julia Meister, a research student at the University of Brighton who had been chosen to represent Sussex and presented her poster on 'Net Zero NHS: Modelling Hidden Emissions of a Sustainable Medical Device Economy'. Her research focused on the climate impact of healthcare and how to reduce wastage in the NHS and she was awarded the Bronze sustainability award.
