Mims Davies MP was thrilled to join the Building Digital UK Event in Parliament.
Mims Davies MP joined the Building Digital UK event in Parliament from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology to discuss Project Gigabit and the Shared Rural Network.
The Government commitment is for Project Gigabit to be rolled out across the UK by 2030.
Mims was pleased to hear the number of premises in Mid Sussex with access to gigabit broadband in March 2024 is now at 77%. This is up from just 7% in March 2019.
Mims was also thrilled in March 2024 more than 6,400 homes in East Grinstead had been contacted to Virgin Media 02 gigabit network.
Mims was also able to raise a few issues with the team that constituents had contacted her about, such as mobile network coverage in Mid Sussex coverage, and the Department will come back to us with an update in the next couple of weeks on this.
Mims Davies MP said:
“I was very pleased to have the opportunity to attend this event and to have been updated on Building Digital UK and what they are doing in Mid Sussex.
It's great to see the progress and the growth in gigabit-capable coverage in Mid Sussex since 2019. This is so important for not only people to live and work but also for supporting businesses here.
I was also able to raise several issues that constituents have been in touch with me about such as their poor mobile network coverage in certain areas and how it always seems to be the same roads that are dug up for these projects.
I look forward to the Department providing me with an update on these."
