Due to the freezing weather, Mid Sussex District Council has triggered its Severe Weather Emergency Procedure and this will be in operation from Friday 5th January - Wednesday 10th January 2024, when the position will be reviewed.
They will be providing short-term accommodation for those who have been assessed as rough sleeping in Mid Sussex, including those who have nowhere to live and would have to rough sleep during this severe weather, if they wish to take this up.
If you are aware of a rough sleeper, please do alert StreetLink here.
StreetLink is a service with the focus on connecting people sleeping rough to local services. Whether you've seen someone sleeping rough and want to connect them with support services, or if you are sleeping rough and want to find out about local support services.
Mid Sussex District Council also work in partnership with the outreach service Turning Tides to support residents who are rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping in Mid Sussex. However, they may not be aware of everyone, so if you know of a rough sleeper in Mid Sussex, then please alert them by completing a Streetlink referral www.streetlink.org.uk.

"With the temperature dropping and the freezing weather approaching, it's important we're all taking necessary actions to look after ourselves and loved ones.
If you're aware of a rough sleeper, please do alert StreetLink, who connect people sleeping rough to local services.
Please also take care when out driving as many of our local areas are flooded from the rush of rain yesterday, including the one way system in Haywards Heath."
