Mims Davies MP and her team were thrilled to volunteer at St Peter & St James Distribution Centre sorting through clothing and more donated from all over our brilliant community.
St Peter & St James Hospice provide expert care to adults living with a life-limiting illness in our wonderful community. Their support extends to friends and families too and their community includes Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Lewes, Uckfield and everywhere in between. St Peter & St James support people to live and die well, according to what matters most to them. Their mission is to provide the best possible care, in the right place, at the right time, to everyone who needs it.
Each of their fashion stores are unique and require different stock, so all the clothes were distributed based on each store’s individual style – e.g. Lewes tends to stock more retro / vintage clothing.
They outgrew their warehouse, and moved to their new Distribution Centre in Hurstpierpoint. The Income Generation team came together and organised a day where the Fundraising team could help the Retail team out at the Distribution Centre.
Currently, their Distribution Centre are accepting donations of:
- Clean items that are in a saleable condition
- Any of your pre-loved indoor or outdoor furniture
- Antique or vintage items
They also accept clothing donations both at the DC and at our clothing banks in the following locations:
- St Peter & St James Hospice (in the staff car park)
- Wivelsfield Village Hall
- Cyprus Road car park, Burgess Hill
- Outside our Lindfield shop
- Ditchling Recreation Ground car park
- Cumnor House School
- Hurstpierpoint College
- Christs Hospital

"It was heart warming to see the sheer number of items that are donated to the brilliant St Peter & St James' Distribution Centre and the generosity of our wonderful community from clothing, accessories and toys, to furniture, electrical goods and books.
It was really interesting to learn about which items sell best in each area, and how each store and the Distribution Centre have adapted to suit these trends. Donated items help the retail team at St Peter & St James Hospice to generate 30% of the charity’s income so please do donate any items you can as it's greatly appreciated by the team.
My team and I may have even found some fabulous pieces to buy ourselves!"
