I have been advised by South East Water that the recent prolonged dry weather and the soaring temperatures have meant we are using more water than normal. Over the weekend they treated and supplied enough additional water to serve four towns the size of Eastbourne. This has impacted on the amount of treated water they have in their drinking water storage tanks across our region.
Please use water for essential uses only to keep the taps flowing for everyone. This includes drinking, cooking and hygiene. Using more water puts a lot of pressure on South East Water's ability to treat, pump and supply water to our homes. Using water for these essential purposes only, and saving or re-using water where you can, will definitely help. If we can all do this for the next few days, they will be able to refill the network much faster.
You can save water by:
- Taking shorter showers
- Using leftover water for your plants
- Invest in a water butt
- Letting your lawn go brown
