Mims Davies, MP for Mid Sussex recently visited The Garden Army in West Hoathly and met with Eve Mayhew & Mr Tom Morphew.
Mims discovered how The Garden Army, an organisation set up to provide therapeutic horticulture sessions to aid mental well-being was originally set up to support a team of ex-military personnel and people suffering from PTSD and other mental health issues.
Supported by a group of volunteers the farm has opened its door wider to support anyone who wants to get outside and experience nature to support their health.
Mims Davies commented:
“Being outdoors and in an absolutely stunning location is a fantastic start to any therapeutic sessions, but the sense of wellbeing and accomplishment when what you have planted grows and flourishes is wonderful and such a great way to give support. It was great to hear your future plans, I do hope that they all come to fruition”
The Garden Army also run events, volunteering days and activities for school groups, community groups and companies who want to support their employees to volunteer. People attending their events have the chance to spend the day completing projects to support the farms development, learn about regenerative farming, gain new skills, and to learn the importance of sustainable farming.
