Just over 30 years ago Grenestede Talking News (GTN) was launched to allow those with either temporary or permanent visual impairment in the East Grinstead area the opportunity to listen to news and views from the local press along with items of local interest.
Mims Davies MP for Mid Sussex visited Grenestede Talking News to tour their studio and meet some of their volunteers and to be interviewed, answering questions sent in by Grenestede Talking News listeners.
Mims Davies commented:
"It was an absolute pleasure to visit GTN, this is a fabulous service, vital to those with hearing impairments keeping connected with what is happening locally. It was fantastic to meet the team and be interviewed to answer questions posed by their listeners. The team work incredibly hard to deliver this service and I wish both the Grenestede Talking News Team and their listeners all the very best.”
Grenestede Talking News produce weekly audio recordings (CD) of local news and events in East Grinstead and the local surrounding areas. The recordings are produced and delivered free of charge. Anyone who is blind, partially sighted or who has a disability which makes reading a strain can self refer for The Talking News. Playing units can be loaned if necessary.
