Last week I was honoured to have been appointed Minister for Disabled People, Health, and Work. I’ll work as hard as I can to ensure disabled people's voices are heard loud and clear. I’ll continue to champion opportunities, progression and life chances within my new portfolio and look forward to working with the sector and delivering for them. I’ll have a continued focus on social mobility-both reflecting the voice and needs of young people in DWP and all across Government.
It was great to welcome constituents Margaret and Geoff Bussell from Ashurst Wood to Parliament last week to watch the last PMQs of this year. If you’d like to attend PMQs please email mims.davies.mp@parliament.uk
I am sure I’m not alone when I say this, but where has this year gone! As usual, it seems to have passed by in a blur. I hope that you too are enjoying the nativity plays, festive concerts and our wonderful local church services. I am trying, like many, to get ready for Santa and am looking forward to a break. This Christmas, and as we approach 2024, it’s important we all get a chance to take the time to reflect on the year gone by and breathe, as it’s been a tough and challenging one for many of us.
I’ve met with businesses recently who are under continuing pressures, including the local team at the Royal Mail. I know that they all are working extremely hard under very difficult circumstances and are doing their best to ensure our day-to-day post and Christmas messages to each other are delivered. I know there’s deep frustration and concerns, but I can attest our local posties are working their socks off to deliver for us and I thank them for their ongoing hard work and dedication.
Finally, it has been a pleasure to serve you this year and I wish you all a peaceful and happy festive season. I’m so glad the Government has listened to victims of spiking and there will be updated offence-this will help us all to enjoy nights out in safety.
