MP for Eastleigh, Mims Davies, celebrated the festive season with Eastleigh Football Club at their inaugural carol service held at St Nicolas’ Church in Stoneham Lane. This community event, organised by Revd. Jono Harvey, the club chaplain, and colleagues, comprised of both a traditional carol service at the church and was followed by a further community fayre at the EFC grounds. The Cherbourg School Choir and Nightinglee Choir, from Nightingale Primary School, sang a range of carols to the congregation.
Commenting, Mims said:
“I was honoured to be asked to deliver the first reading at this inaugural service which brought together a wide range of the Eastleigh community. I was thrilled to hear the local choirs and be part of this celebration of Christmas.”
“It is so important that organisations such as Eastleigh Football Club get involved in our local communities and youth groups, such as the local scouts. I congratulate them and all of those involved on organising such a superb event.”
“It was a game of two halves, starting at the church, and then heading to the hanger for more carols and time with the community groups. It was a really festive event and I now feel Christmas is starting across the Eastleigh constituency.”
