Eastleigh MP Mims Davies has received the keys to her new constituency office at the Bursledon Community Centre in Portsmouth Road, Lowford.
The new Member of Parliament met up with the Community Centre manager, Jordon Walsh, on Saturday to have a look around after signing up for the ground floor space.
"It’s great to have found a base for myself and for residents to pop into once we are all set up," said Mims. "The centre is a bustling hub for the local community with a great café, library and GP surgery so it seems the ideal place to be. I am delighted that my first Saturday morning was full and I’ll be keen to offer Saturday catch ups with residents where needed."
However, the office will not be the only location where residents can visit Mims.
"Eastleigh is a big constituency and I appreciate that it might be difficult for people to get to Bursledon, so I will be holding regular surgeries at other locations and I’m always happy to visit people in their home," she explained.
"I’m interviewing staff to help run the office and I look forward to seeing as many people as I can over the next five years."
Mims has already held surgeries in Hedge End and at St Andrew’s Methodist Church in Blenheim Road, Eastleigh, since she was elected last month.
Her next surgery will be at her office on 26 June. Those wanting an appointment to speak to her should now call 020 7219 6853 but there will soon be a local number, she added.
Mims has been invited to hold surgeries at Asda in West End, and she will also be delighted to hear from other local groups, churches and community venues who would like Mims to visit them.
