Like so many of you who I’ve spoken to recently I’m pleased to see the end of January, roll on lighter evenings and the early signs of spring.
Last week I met with politics students from Imberhorne School to talk about my journey into Parliament, the Environment, Brexit, Tuition Fees, and much more. It’s great to see them so interested in these subjects and asking those important challenging questions.
I also had a very interesting visit to DHL. It was good to be at their site, to see and understand the complex logistics of parcel delivery and to see them in full operation during a busy time of their day getting vital items and equipment to people in express time and hear about the mix of careers in the sector.
My third bounceback business Breakfast was a huge success. I’m extremely grateful to Chequer Mead for providing such a welcoming venue and to Insulated Tools for sponsoring the event, so local business owners and organisations could come together to hear from the inspirational speakers on inclusive employment, network and share positive experiences.
I was delighted to open the Green Tree Gallery’s Annual Art Sale at Borde Hill, regional winners of the Muddy Stiletto’s Awards 2022. With wonderful art of all types to suit all pockets, it’s a great place to visit. Congratulations also to other local Winners, The Urban Sanctuary and Esther Rose Featherstone.
It was great to see the Urgent and Emergency Care Recovery Plan launch earlier this week. This is a key part of the Governments work to deliver one of the five priorities: cutting NHS waiting times, to ensure everyone can quickly get the care they need. It’s clear more ambulances are needed, therefore, £1 billion will go on more ambulances and beds, which will be supported by more staff. The discharge process will be sped up to relieve pressures on hospitals, and to expand new measures to treat patients in the community, whilst enhancing the role of NHS 111, and to also improve the A&E services with the sharing of best practice.
