I hope you all enjoyed your Easter and had some family time. As the days lengthen, and mother nature provides us with an amazing show of colour with all the spring flowers, what we now need is the sun’s warmth! My normal working week means I’m in Westminster most Monday to Thursdays, so I do enjoy spending more time in our beautiful area meeting with residents and visiting our fabulous businesses and groups.
It was a pleasure to join the Parkinson’s awareness concert for World Parkinson’s Day, at St Augustine’s Church, Scaynes Hill. It was a great success raising much needed money for this great charity which dedicates itself to finding respite and a cure from this awful disease, as well as the Church floor. Our local support group, which is now 30 years young, is tremendous and I was honoured to join them at Wivelsfield Hall at their celebration tea party and concert not so long ago.
The Spring 2023 COVID-19 vaccinations have commenced. Those aged 75 years and older, residents in care homes for older people, and those aged 5 years and over with a weakened immune system, will be offered a further seasonal vaccine. COVID-19 is more serious in older people and those with certain underlying health conditions. If eligible, you should be offered an appointment from 17 April to 30 June, with those at highest risk being called in first. Vaccination invitations will arrive around 6 months from the last dose, and it can be taken from 3 months. If turning 75 years of age between 1 April and 30 June, you’ll be called for vaccination during the campaign and not have to wait for your next birthday. If you’re eligible, please do come forward and take the vaccination opportunity.
Finally, on Wednesday 17th May, the brilliant Haywards Heath based charity, Group B Strep Support, will be holding a one-day virtual Group B Strep Pregnancy & Babies conference.
