I joined the brilliant Mid Sussex Active’s #LetGirlsPlay Biggest Ever Girls Football event, at Ardingly College on Friday, originally washed out by the rain on International Women’s Day, 8th March. Around 20 local schools took part in skills activities and matches supported by Haywards Heath Football Club and Sussex FA.
Later on, I joined the return of the MSDC secondary school STEM challenge. It was fantastic to see the pupils’ brilliant and creative work. Events such as this are crucial for bringing STEM to life, encouraging students to enter this sector, which has many diverse opportunities and vacancies - many of them nearby.
Last week, I met with the Sports Minister, Stuart Andrew MP regarding the final funding for Haywards Heath Rugby Football Club to enable them to proceed with their plans for a new clubhouse. I urged him to work with Sports England to help bring forward stalled projects where significant funds can be unlocked and local participation is booming.
Jeremy Quin MP and I had a productive meeting with the Sussex NHS Integrated Care Board regarding Modality. Focused on all aspects of patient support for our local areas, we pressed for a clear plan and way forward. Every Primary Care Network in Sussex, including Modality Mid Sussex, will now develop access improvement plans by the end of June.
I’ve signed regulations for DWP to ensure over six million disabled people will be paid £150 this summer, as part of Cost-of-Living payments worth up to £1,350, including £301 sent to over 8 million people on low-income benefits and tax credits in recent weeks. The £301 payment should now have been received. If you think you should have had this payment but have not received it, do report this via the GOV.UK website.
The Burgess Hill Community Crafters’ Market was created to bring together local handmade crafters. Creating the opportunity to showcase their passion and encourage creativity for hand crafting in an affordable and friendly environment, I’d had a great time visiting them previously. Their next event is at the Kiln, on the 3rd June-for more information or a stand visit: bhillccmarket@gmail.com
