I hope all those receiving A Level, AS and T-level results last week got the results they wanted. It was a nervous morning for my family as we headed to Haywards Heath College. Please do remember, if things haven’t gone to plan, when one door closes another opens. I had been due to study at Norwich, but an unexpected new path opened up and I ended up attending Swansea Uni. There are so many options out there- from a gap year to apprenticeships to courses at Plumpton College -wishing you all good luck in your next steps.
CSL Behring in Haywards Heath is one of our key local employers and I enjoyed a recent meet up with their new General Manager, UK and Ireland. They hold regular volunteer days assisting our local charities and have recently helped St Peter & St James Hospice and Mid Sussex Voluntary Association (MSVA). At my recent summer visit to MSVA, I met with their new CEO Katie and Chairman James, at their updated facilities in Burgess Hill which allow a greater flexibility for supporting both local groups and attendees. We’ll be working together again on my latest jobs and volunteer fayre–more on this soon.
It was good to meet up with members of The Shed and BH Creative Community. The Shed is a local charity funded by their members- it has a wonderful workshop where members can work on their own or assist with community projects while sharing knowledge and expertise. It’s also a great place for new friendships. For more visit https://www.bhshed.org.uk or if you are looking for a different local creative outlet visit: https://bhcreativecommunity.co.uk
The ‘Take the Bus Campaign’ is urging all those who have concessionary travel in Mid Sussex to return to using the buses. If you are aged 66 and above, or disabled and eligible for a concessionary pass, do make the most of the bus. For those not eligible, the Government’s £2 bus fare cap scheme makes the bus a great alternative to the car. To see if your bus is covered by this scheme visit https://www.gov.uk/guidance/2-bus-fare-cap
