Today the Member of Parliament for Eastleigh, Mims Davies, welcomed that more than £780,000 has been allocated to local causes across the Eastleigh constituency since April 2013, supporting local groups within the community.
Commenting, Eastleigh MP Mims Davies said:
“I was delighted to speak to members of the Big Lottery Fund Team today and hear first-hand about some of the local groups that are benefiting from the £780,000 allocated to local causes over the past five years.
“One such group is Friends of in touch, providing support to vulnerable children and young people with autistic spectrum conditions, which has been allocated more than £90,000. Older people interested in finding out what support is available to them could drop-in to my Seniors’ Fair at Fleming Park Bowling Club on the 8th November between 11am – 2pm.”
“Another group that benefited from the Big Lottery Fund was Hedge End Breastfeeding Support which has been allocated £10,000 from the Fund to help support local parents, and in particular, new mums and dads.
“If you are a member of a local organisation or project that you feel could benefit from National Lottery Funding, then please email me with the details to mims.davies.mp@parliament.uk.”
The Big Lottery Fund is the largest community funder in the UK, each year distributing millions of pounds of the National Lottery’s good causes money to community groups and charitable projects around the UK, totalling £8.5 billion since 2004!
At the event in Parliament earlier this week, the Big Lottery Fund also spoke with MPs about a new £15 million pot launched on Monday to support charities and community organisations. The fund will help the charity and voluntary sector to use digital tools and approaches to support people and communities to thrive.
Commenting further, Mims said:
“Having worked alongside Ministers at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, I understand just how welcome this new £15 million fund will be for charities and community organisations across our area.
“If you support or volunteer in a local organisation that you think could benefit from this pot of money, you can submit outline proposals until 5pm on the 3rd December 2018, and I would urge you to apply!”
