As you may be aware, a section of the bank – close to Ardingly Activity Centre – has begun to slip.
The slippage worsened during the summer when the reservoir was low, and now work is needed to prevent further damage and potential impact to the quality of the water.
Repair work will be split into two phases with the first phase beginning on 22 May 2023. Construction work will continue until mid-July.
The first phase of the project will involve a large crane situated upon a pontoon lowering heavy gravel bags into the water at the base of the slippage area. This to prevent the slippage worsening while we finalise the permanent repair.
Ardingly Reservoir will remain accessible throughout this work, however there will be a number of restrictions.
- The on-site car park will be operating at a reduced capacity to allow for storage space
- Three footpaths between the Activity Centre and the car park will be closed
- For safety, Ardingly Activity Centre will only be offering limited activities during this time.
Updates to follow.
