With the concerning news from the DFE regarding their updated cautious approach to the impact of RAAC in education settings, I fully recognise there’ll remain some uncertainty. WSCC have already completed a review of records for school buildings they’re directly responsible for.
No WSCC maintained schools have been identified from records as containing any RAAC and to provide added confidence physical inspections of all maintained school blocks constructed between 1930-2000 are being commissioned.
WSCC are actively engaging with local academy schools too, who are responsible for their own buildings, to ensure reviews have been undertaken. I’ll continue to closely monitor this situation for schools and education settings across our area. More is on my website.
Last week, I joined many residents of the district to see plans for the future of Clair Hall after its use by the NHS concludes. Details about District Council engagement that’s been delivered to date and what’s planned can be found here: https://engage.midsussex.gov.uk/hub.../community-development Please do get involved and have your say to ensure whatever the outcome, Clair Hall will be suitable for use by the whole community, now and for future generations.
Friday was another busy day of constituency surgeries and then a trip to A & E at the PRH. Many thanks to the team who ensured I and everyone else there on a busy Friday night were well looked after. On Saturday I attended the opening of the new UpCountry building in Scaynes Hill. To celebrate its opening, they held a ‘Freshtival and Makers Market’ which showcased a fabulous mix of wonderful local produce from across the area. It was lovely to meet new and growing traders and see them being supported by such a great local family business.
Congratulations to Kirsty Adams, who has been selected as the Parliamentary candidate for my party in the new Mid Sussex constituency, which has seen significant boundary changes. I will remain the current MP until the next election, when I will be contesting a new adjoining seat. The new Parliamentary seat covers Ardingly, Balcombe, Wivelsfield, the High Weald and East Grinstead, to name a few.
