Mims Davies MP shares the National Trust's #BlossomWatch week
Share the joy of the UK’s blossom season with the National Trust’s #BlossomWatch
Their annual celebration of the UK’s spectacular blossom season, in its fifth year, takes inspiration from Japan’s Hanami, bringing all generations outdoors, boosting tourism and helping people connect with nature.
However, this year pockets of England and Wales saw blossom arrive four weeks earlier than normal due to unseasonably mild temperatures.
Early blossom is a visual sign of how our seasons are shifting and the consequences of a rapidly changing climate.
Mims and the National Trust hopes to encourage residents of Mid Sussex to get outside, enjoy and celebrate spring blossom, sharing their images of beautiful blossom across social media as it appears and during #BlossomWatch week 20th - 28th April 2024.
This year the National Trust are hosting over 100 events at our places between March and May, working with communities and partners across cities including Birmingham, London and Manchester, plus events during blossom week in Newcastle, Coventry, Plymouth, Cheshire and Belfast.
They are also celebrating their collaboration with Poet Laureate Simon Armitage, who's created a collection of poems and haikus inspired by the blossom season - Blossomise. During this time the National Trust will be inviting people everywhere to share their own creative responses to blossom using #BlossomWatch.

"Spring is officially here!
I'd love to encourage residents of Mid Sussex to share the joy of the UK's blossom season with the National Trust's #BlossomWatch.
It's important for both physical and mental health to be outdoors with the fresh air, bringing all generations outdoors, boosting tourism and helping people connect with nature.
So be sure to go outdoors this Spring and post your images on social media with the National Trust's #BlossomWatch."
