Mims Daves, MP for Eastleigh, has written to Eastleigh Borough Council to object to the Berry Farm planning application.
"I am writing to strongly object to the application (F/15/76582 Land at Berry Farm Bursledon) as submitted to you. I have been contacted by a great many constituents who have grave concerns over this application. I object on the grounds of the application’s impact on Air Quality and Transport.
I strongly agree with Bursledon Parish Council and Hamble Parish Council that the application must be rejected on the grounds of the development being within the Air Quality Management Area. Air Quality is already in need of urgent attention and action. Adding developments to this problem is ill advised and potentially dangerous. The strained infrastructure in the area cannot take further development. Further development will add to traffic and therefore to air pollution. I note that constituents share this view.
This is another instance in which an application has come to Eastleigh Borough Council due to the lack of protection from an adopted Local Plan. It is hugely disappointing that the Council is unable to submit a new Plan earlier than next year. It must rectify the issue in terms of five year land supply. They also must work proactively with local parish councils so communities can be a part of deciding the future of their areas. The Borough Council must do far more to work with parishes. I urge the Council to reject this application and regain control over its own planning process."
