Eastleigh MP Mims Davies has cut the ribbon at the launch of a new minibus in Botley that will help residents get around for years to come.
Mims was joined by members of Botley Neighbour Care, local councillors, residents and users who came to watch the launch of the latest Botley Mini Bus.
The new vehicle was funded by a Department of Transport scheme offering better transport for rural communities and it replaces an elderly bus the scheme had been using.
“It was a real pleasure to be asked to launch this wonderful asset for the Botley community that will do much to allow residents transport from their homes to things like medical appointments or community events for many years to come,” said Mims.
“The number of people who came to watch me cut the ribbon just showed how very popular and well used the service is and I think it’s a truly excellent use of money.
“Special thanks must be given to Lynne Line and Rosemary Nimmo who were instrumental in acquiring and equipping it.”
The service has been running for more than 20 years, serving residents of Botley by offering transport to medical appointments or transport for people who would otherwise struggle to use public transport.
The launch began with a blessing of the bus by the Rev Gregg Mensingh and then everyone was given the chance of looking around the new vehicle to see all the useful mobility aids on board.
