Mims Davies, MP for Eastleigh, has welcomed news that £486,800 of funding is being provided to 15 projects across the Eastleigh constituency to protect the vulnerable and support public services, following bids being made to the area’s Safer Communities Fund.
Commenting, Mims said:
“This is a significant sum for small support services that really matter.”
“There are so many vital services operating in the Eastleigh constituency, and I am thrilled that these organisations will have the financial backing to continue supporting our hard-working police force in keeping us safe.”
“This includes £50,000 for Yellow Door, who provide emotional and therapeutic support to those affected by domestic sexual abuse, and £40,000 to Aurora New Dawn, a stalking advocacy service – two key issues that I have recently stood up for in the House of Commons chamber, and have been raised with me during my regular advice surgeries.”
“The 15 organisations and corresponding projects cover a huge range of themes, from managing offenders, preventing crime, preventing reoffending and assisting young people affected by crime – and I commend each of these projects for contributing to local safety, and subsequently assisting our front-line police officers.”
Mims will continue to support police services and organisations working towards safer communities through her dialogue with the Home Office, her meetings with the Minister for Policing Nick Hurd MP, and correspondence with the area’s Police and Crime Commissioner Michael Lane.
