Eastleigh MP Mims Davies recently met with The Royal British Legion’s local Area Manager Jim France together with Royal British Legion supporter and West End resident Lizzie O’Sullivan to discuss support for the Armed Forces community in Dorset and Hampshire.
Commenting, Mims said:
“Members of the Armed Forces community make huge sacrifices in Service of our country and I am proud to support the work of the Legion, and particularly to support Lizzie and the Royal British Legion’s Eastleigh, Chandlers Ford & District branch, who do so much to raise funds, run events such as the Festival Remembrance I attended in November, and support the military community based in our patch of Hampshire.
“It was therefore great to meet with Lizzie, some of the local team and others who live in Eastleigh too at the event in Westminster to hear about the important work that so many people in our area are undertaking year-round through The Royal British Legion (RBL) - often over and above the excellent support they provide for Remembrance.
“I hope to visit the Legion’s “Pop In” centre in Southampton soon, where practical advice and help is offered in a warm and welcoming space.
“The event was also a brilliant opportunity to discuss recommendations raised within the Royal British Legion’s Manifesto and what actions the Government has taken and continues to take in relation to this. It is vital to remind constituents that the Legion works all year round.”
Also commenting, Jim France, the Legion’s Area Manager for Dorset and Hampshire, said:
“I was delighted to see Mims and we were grateful that she took the time to drop in. The Royal British Legion provides lifelong support for the Armed Forces community – serving men and women, veterans and their families. This latest parliamentary event offered a great opportunity to spread the word about the range of services we provide, and it was a pleasure to discuss this in detail with Mims Davies MP”.
