The former Sports Minister and Member of Parliament for Mid Sussex Mims Davies has joined with other influential figures to support this year’s National Fitness Day which takes place on the 23rd September this year. Various Covid-safe events ranging from mass walks to dance-offs to yoga and Pilates classes will take place across the country. These activities are being organised by people and groups in the local community, such as gym operators, equipment suppliers, outdoor fitness providers, bloggers, personal trainers, workplaces, schools, colleges, universities or members of the public. In addition, Bear Grylls is due to be kicking off the day with a nationwide workout from Battersea Power Station.
Mims Davies, MP for Mid Sussex comments:
“National Fitness Day is a fantastic opportunity for all of us dealing with this pandemic from lockdown to take on the challenge and look to get active again in a variety of ways – always taking into account our individual circumstances and abilities when deciding what to embark on. I am a great advocate of the importance of keeping fit and encouraging others to do so. In my previous role as Sports Minister, this was a big part of my official portfolio, in addition to spearheading and participating in keeping active through founding the Mid Sussex Marathon weekend during my time as a local, Mid Sussex District Councillor. For all who can, I would encourage you to sign up to participate in this important event through visiting the National Fitness Day website: https://www.nationalfitnessday.com/get-involved/”
“It is vital we all stay active and keep fit during the current pandemic. Experts at the Centre for Perioperative Care (CPOC) have repeatedly said a healthy diet will reduce the risk of becoming severely ill with the virus, including exercising daily, have alcohol-free days and quit smoking.”
Ends.
