Member of Parliament for Mid Sussex Mims Davies is in full support of the government’s 2020 flu vaccination plan. In order to relieve the NHS of additional pressures this winter the government is aiming for 30 million people in England to get the free flu vaccination – twice as many as were vaccinated last year. This is because people at high risk from COVID-19 are also those most at risk from flu.
Mims Davies, MP for Mid Sussex comments:
“As we approach the late autumn and winter season, I urge everyone to book a flu jab when offered, either through their GP or at a chemist. I myself had a flu jab at my local chemist last week, and I believe that in the current climate, there has never been a more critical time to look after one’s health and general wellbeing as much as possible. I am also very aware that through having a flu jab, we also protect those around us.
Jagreet Singh, Pharmacist at Selbys Pharmacy, Lindfield said
“It has been wonderful to be able to have the opportunity to help again within the community by giving out flu vaccinations this year as well. This has included our well-respected local MP Mims Davies”
Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock, said:
“This year more than ever, it’s vital that those eligible for the flu jab get it this winter, so you can protect yourself, your family and the NHS. We’re pulling out all the stops to prepare for this uniquely challenging winter and we have enough vaccines for 30 million people this year, more than we’ve ever done before.
With the simultaneous risk of flu and COVID-19, make sure you get your flu jab if you’re eligible, don’t gather in groups larger than 6 and remember ‘Hands Face Space’, so we can look after each other”.
Ends.
