DWP have launched a new Pension Credit campaign to ensure everyone eligible is taking up this vital scheme and claim Pension Credit.
Pension Credit provides a vital income ‘top up’ for some of our most vulnerable pensioners–worth more than £3,300 on average. The good news is the latest figures show take-up is at the highest level since 2010andaround1.4million pensioners currently receive it. But there is much more to do to reach those who could claim but don’t.
With household budgets under pressure this year, it is critical we get the message out that even a small award of Pension Credit is a passport to a suite of other help. This means that as well as cash in pensioner’s pockets, Pension Credit gives access to help with housing costs, council tax reduction schemes, heating bills and afreeover-75sTV licence.
Our new campaign builds on work we delivered earlier this year to send more than11million pensioners a pension credit leaflet accompanying their annual pension up-rating letters. This spring we have begun a new campaign to raise awareness of Pension Credit.
