The turnout for both Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday across Mid Sussex was magnificent. It was an honour to pay our respects to the fallen heroes of past conflicts and to thank those who have served and serve our country today and reflect all their sacrifices and impacts. I was greatly honoured to attend church, choral and wreath and laying services in Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill and Lindfield and have representatives at other services and also laying the speaker RBL House of Commons wreath. It was great to chat to past and current serving personnel and our wonderful youth groups such as the Cadets, Guides and Scouts who marched proudly alongside the colour parties bearing their flags with pride.
I had a very informative visit to Station Taxi’s as part of the ‘Guide Dogs High Street Heroes Campaign’ to chat about their provision for clients who have Guide or Hearing Assistance Dogs. It was good to see how they worked and welcomed Assistance Dogs and have had their regular customers who have welcomed this support. The law gives assistance dog owners the right to access business and services without discrimination. Open Door Stickers are available from the Guide Dogs for the Blind Charity.
After their visit to the House of Commons, I had a great catch up with the Burgess Hill Academy Debate team and hosted a debate practice. It was fantastic to see to see the students enthusiastically pick up new skills and grow in confidence.
